I've heard that a lot. I have to ask though, Do you like the Long tentacle anemone? Long tentacle anemones wouldn't be one of the most popular anemones in the hobby if they were eating everyone's fish. There is a risk involved with keeping any type of anemones in a tank with anything that isn't symbiotic with them though. I've got an 8 inch wide green long tentacle anemone in my tank along with 2 rose bubble tips and a healthy 6 inch wide heteractis crispa "sebae anemone". Why? because I prefer to have what I like and not what someone wants to sell me at overpriced costs. IMO, there is very little risk to worry about and If you like what you have then keep it. I have learned long ago to take what LFS's tell ya with a grain of salt. All anemones have their own pros and cons but IMO I've had the most trouble with bubble tips. My LTA and my Sebae never roam about the tank. My fish all stay away from them and plus, they are beautiful anemones and my clowns prefer them. My larger RBTA decided a few weeks ago to start roaming all over my tank one night. It stung and killed 4 acropora frags in one night at a loss of over $100 in frags. I decided to put it in my sump for my other clowns and it ended up eating one of my chromis that I put in their because it was being a bully. I'm not saying that Bubble tips are bad anemones to have. I think they are great. What I'm saying is do your own research and decide for yourself what anemone is right for your tank. Some LFS's will try to get you to buy anything these days. At very least, if you decide you really do want a bubble tip, look around. Many online stores are selling green bubble tip anemones for as little as $19.99 each with 14 day gaurantees and rose BTA's for as low as $65.00. If you absolutely want to buy locally, then check out the ones ate Deep Sea Creations and the ones at Cultivated Reef in Orono. If it were me I'd keep the anemone you've got and find an nice cheap bubble tip as well. Talk to some of the local hobbyists here on he forum. Chanses are if you want a BTA, someone may have a clone you could get for cheap or even trade frags or something for. Hope this helps. cultivatedreef.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16&products_id=511www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=747+2663+604&pcatid=604

Oh also just wanted to say that my clowns keep all my other fish away from my LTA and my sebae anemones so I doubt one would ever even get the chance to eat a healthy fish. Plus the only anemones I ever feed are my bubble tips. It helps keep them from roaming more often and can also get them to split more often as well. You also want to avoid any anemones if they have any whitish, transparent or dyed colors. Even just recently I saw an online store trying to sell what I clearly saw as an unhealthy partially bleached RBTA as a rare ultra rose bubble tip anemone for almost $200.

You run the risk with any anemone, just the bigger the nem the bigger the risk. usually there's no problem as long as the fish are healthy, they know to stay away from them. Just make sure to feed the fish first when you feed the nem, so there's less of a chance of a hungry fish diving in after the food.
