This looks like an upgrade from the MP40 flow is the same, name is different on the box and controller, Jecod. This is the "new design" pump, rubber rings, slim mount, with the new style single pump controller and power supply. The Dual pump controller is a different unit all together and you cannot use the old power supplies with it. The dual controller has two knobs on the front and two sets of display leds. I don't understand their logic as you can buy the dual pump controller by itself, with the upgraded power supply, or as a complete kit with two power heads. The website states you cannot use the original power supply or it will burn but you know tons of people are going to try to use the dual controller with the original power supplies.

Sounds like some people already did since they know it'll burn up the controllers? Lol;D

+1 on the dual wp-40's on a 90. The 40's will give you a wider flow pattern. IMO I think you are going to be hard pressed to turn up the 4's more than 3/4 the way without having lots towels around You could get away with two 25's and have more of a range of flow.

I'm half tempted to go with a 25 and a 40, just to get the wide flow of the 40. But I'll probably end up with the 2 25's.

Does it say if you can use 2 different sized pumps with the new controller? Wp-40 & Wp-25? With the new controller you have more control over the pumps power of flow correct? Because if this is true and you have more control over the pumps power I wouldn't need to replace my Wp-40 for 2 Wp-25's? I could just run a Wp-40 and a Wp-25 with the same results? I do like the smaller footprint of the Wp-25 though. But keeping the Wp-40 leaves room for an upgrade on the tank without buying new (bigger) pumps again? Idk what to do? Lol

That I don't know, it would be good to know before ordering. I would guess that you could use any size pumps you want, since that controller covers all 4 models. It's not going to know what pump it's connected to, just what power to send out for the mode you are in.
I like little or no equipment in the display tank, so I'll probably end up with 2 25's basically for the smaller footprint in the tank.

I also appreciate the smaller footprint of the 25 but Plan on upgrading to a larger tank in the near future and would hate to have to buy new pumps again! Even though I'm sure I could put them to good use somehow! .................. ......................................Frag tank! Lol

Here is a link to a 40 in a 55 gal tank. The difference in settings on the dual controller is you can time the power heads to run Random, In Sync, or switching.
