Remember brightness and intensity have nothing to do with kelvin and radiation. LED lighting when used in the spectrums we are using tends to run hotter ( kelvin and radiation wise ) and penetrates the water surface easier then traditional lighting. Even though you have the LED's turned down looking sort of dim they can still be cranking out the Kelvin, wavelength, and radiation.

I turned the lights down about 10% each, see if that helps. I'm going to get some carbon in the sump tonight, hopefully that will help too. Won't be able to force the water thru it, but I'll do my best to make it effective. Do you have baffles in your sump? If so that is where I stuck mine, also you could put it in your filter sock if you are running one

I would go 30/20 on your lights and work your way up.

Lights are turned down, carbon is in the sump, 5 gal water change, and some starfish hunting is done.
Hopefully this all helps make them happy again. They are the only 2 who are not happy, and actually about a week before the swap they started acting like this. I didn't think much of it then, and after the swap I thought they would come out of it. I did start the lights lower at first, and have been going up a little bit every few days. My old LED's were pretty bright, so the corals are used to the intensity........but these do have red/green/ and uv in them.

The best solution is dilution. Or something like that. Id add the carbon and start doing some big water changes. Harlicon shrimp? Im not sure the name but the are pro starfish killers. Theres a video on American reef with mike talking about how to rid yourself of those starfish.

I just looked them up on LiveAquaria..........all they eat is starfish. Once the starfish is gone, then what?
Pass it on to the next person infested with these starfish.........LOL

If I see one I'll buy it for sure...........I've pulled out about 40-50 starfish so far today, and there are many many more that keep coming out. There still is the big one, bigger then a nickel.........he's hiding well.

lol they mostly reproduce by splitting... one will drop a couple arms then split..... when there are a bunch doing this its hard to get it under control.
my 120g was full of them (one reason I upgraded to the 180g) I removed as many as I could cleaned the rock and every once in a wile I still see one pop up here and there in the 180 its been 3-4 years and I MURDER every one I see
