I did the swap over from my 35 hex to my 54 corner a little over 2 weeks ago. I kept the rock formation the same in the swap, so the corals were in the same spot and height in the tank in relation to the lighting. The lighting is new, I had Truelumen Pro Marine Fusion LED before and now have a Chinese full spectrum LED now (about 60% blue/40% white).
My Frogspawn was a 4 head piece that I got from Joe (snowmaker) about 2 years ago. It was doing great in my tank, always fully open and happy. Now it has lost 1 head completely, another one is about 1/2 gone, and the other 2 are not opening up like they should be. They will start to open up and then it will recede back for a while then do it again. It used to be mounted about 1/2 way up the rock, but it fell off the rock so I have it on the sandbed right now. It had lost a head before this change, so I don't think the move effected it.
My Duncan started out as a 4-6 head frag I bought from Petco about 2 years ago. It was doing amazing in my tank and now is about a 25-30 head piece. I don't think I've lost any yet, but they are not opening up and being happy. It is mounted about 1/2 way up the rock pile, and it has grown into the rock......so moving it would be a pain.
I'm curious if the lighting change has pissed them off, either there is more intensity now or they don't like something. All water parameters are spot on and very stable. I did have a bacteria bloom right after the swap, and lost my fish, but all the other corals in the tank are doing great and seem to be adjusting well.
I've attached a couple of pictures showing each coral.
I'm looking for suggestions on placement or any ideas on what could be going on.
Thanks,
Steve
