My daughter recently set back up her tall 15 gallon freshwater tank. She is looking for a place or even other frag swap users with a good freshwater selection (she is interested in snails mostly right now) in or around the Bangor area. Any recommendations?

Pet pro is your best best. He has more freshwater livestock selection than most of the online sites.

Last I knew, freshwater snails were illegal in Maine. That being said, I always got mine from eBay, they usually ship well too.

Haha. That would be why Pet Pro didn't have any. Thanks!

Last time I had a fresh tank I bought some plants and asked the sales person if they could throw in a couple small snails that were on the glass. They said they could not legally sell any. I remember as a kid I had a giant freshwater snail it was epic, about 1/2 the size of a baseball.

I'm pretty sure that ALL freshwater inverts are illegal in Maine.

They maybe illegal but if you buy some fresh water plants or especially drift wood that's in a tank, Your probably going to get some hitchhiker snails.
+1 to Matt! Get them on eBay, Most people/sellers on eBay don't care where they're shipping to or what the laws are. As long as they get that PayPal payment!

they are right freshwater snails are not legal in Maine but u can get them ebay as well as crayfish and other inverts. Freshwater snails can over populate quickly and you can get assassin snails that can control populations

If you get down to Ellsworth there are 2 stores that carry freshwater fish. I think the names are Maine Pet and Aquarium, and Crystal Family Pet.
