Who does it? How do you do it? Results? I have issues with some zoas not growing or shrinking and can't seem to keep shrimp or acans. Iodine appears to benefit all three but can be harmful to shrimp if too much is used. I'm thinking about trying it out.

I was never able to keep candy cane without iodine. It would just shrink and shrivel. Add a dose of iodine and they would get all fat and fluffy. I just had a bottle from petco and used dosing instructions from that. I think only trace amounts are necessary anyway, not so much to kill shrimp

Iodine dosing can help. I would add 1/4 or 1/2 the dosing rate to start with just to be on the safe side. U do not want to charge ur water parameters suddenly.
Also I would not use different brands for ur reef additives. Keep ur reef additive all the same brand. An example would be mixing Kent produces with Seachem. What brand r u using currently.

I currently use brightwells two part and keep up on my water changes. I use instant ocean reef crystals and have not successfully kept a shrimp since switching from tropic Marin. My coral doesn't look like crap after every water change though.

I use Kent and I only add it once and awhile because I don't test for it so I don't want to over dose the tank. Seems like everytime I add it my mushrooms love it!

I use a Seachem Iodine & Iodide test kit and adjust with Microbe-lift reef and marine Iodide & Bromide. I have 3 shrimp and 4 anemones. The corals look awesome.

I've been dosing for a 11 days now. The softies seem to love it many of my zoas are now happier, and my snowflake which was a fast grower to begin with appears to be taking steroids. I found a pom pom crab molt and thought I killed the crab with an overdose but soon found him happily sweeping his anemone from under a rock...actually first time I've seen it since December. My frag tank is a slightly different story, I've had all the same success except some ailing zoas didn't turn around...my beloved Mary Janes are all gone now they just slowly melted away. More concerning my acid rain nem expelled a bunch of stuff and was upside down when I found it, I don't think it's going to make it. I feel like I may have stressed it with my lighting cycle?? It's the only thing that's turned out bad through all of this, I've been dosing the recommendation every other day so a 50% dose, I increased from 25% I think I'll back down to the 25% and see what I observe.

I dose on the light side. I like my water changes. I'm always afraid to over dose. Some acros don't like iodine.

Are you testing for iodine? I only use iodine once and awhile because I don't test for it.so there's no way to know if your adding to much or too little? Just like dosing anything else you don't know how much iodine your tank is using unless your testing it to see how much gets used per day. That being said I've never seen ill effects from dosing iodine and I don't test for it either. I only use it once a week if that. Before I used it a lot more without testing, Until I read up on dosing more.

The bottle calls for 8 drops per 50 gallons day. I have a 24 and 28 so I'm doing 4 drops every other day. I plan on buying a test soon.

Yeah with your well established tank and lots of corals and inverts in there I'm sure it's all getting used up anyways
