So I have a little koralia in my tank right now but hate how bulky it is. Any other ideas for water movement that doesn't take up much space? No sump. I have an aquaclear 70 filter that serves as a fuge that creates movement but it also disturbs my sand bed so likely cutting off a propeller or two to cut back on noise, bubbles and force.

Go to Amazon.com and buy a replacement impeller for an AquaClear 30. It will be balanced that way. Costs $10-12. All AC filters from 70 on down use the same motor. The only difference seems to be the number of blades on the impeller.
You could also try creating some baffles to put on the outflow "ramp" to send the water in different directions.
