So, I'm not quite ready to upgrade to my 120 but I was wondering what everyones opinion is on the best way to move a tank. Preferably I would like my tank to new where my current tank is... I'm wondering if its possible to break everything down and set everything up without disturbing my live stock. I will have about 50 gallons or so of cycled water to put into my 120 and I was thinking of doing a couple water changes in my 55 before hand and keeping the water. I figured if I could keep the water at temp and circulated I would have cycled water to put along with the 50 gallons of my tank water into the 120... then I could just add the rest fresh mixed salt water...I figured that way I wouldn't lose anything. My question is, is there a way to switch out tanks but keep the tank in the same place? How would you all do this?

Run the 55 plugged into your 120 like a sump?

As a sump I think I'm gonna get a second rapids pro wet dry sump and run both on the 120. It's a piece of equipment that I'm familiar with and I don't feel stressed about learning how to build a whole set up with a sump, a skimmer, over flow box ect. LOL the other issue is the tank is in the place that I want to stick the new one, so even if I used as a sump it would still be in my way until I got it completely set up

So, another question. I want to get about an inch or so of really fine sand on the bottom, im wondering how much would I need in inches on the bottom of the tank for the first layer of the DSB, and how much sand would I have to buy in pounds to cover the recommended amount?

How many pounds would that be for a 120? There's 5 and 20 pound bags, I'm sure I'd need a few 20 dollar bags, but anyone have any clue?

I only have a 75g tank and I used 2 40lb bags of live sand and 1 40lb bag of crushed coral and seas shells! So my tank have 120 lbs of sand I'm my tank and when my sand was even it was about a 3 inch sand bed. And I've been slowly adding more to try and even out the mounds of sand, but my power heads just move it away again!

I have about 4-5 inches currently so I can use that on top after I rinse the hell out of it, but I def want really fine sand on the bottom... I'm guessing 120 pounds of sand. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using proboards

When you set it up, just make sure you look the tank over well so you don't accidently put the scratched side as the front.

Thanks Ryan, I probably would have forgotten. Do you think it needs new silicone before we set it up?

No, the original silicone will be fine unless you want the look of new silicone.
