I do 50% water change about once a month and clean the filter, the rest is just top off with rodi water with very low salt, just enough to replenish trace but not enough to change salinity since salinity increase with the evaporation. I feed once every week or two, no fish, one scarlet hermit, emerald crab and 5 nassarious snails. I need to come up with some type of top off, nothing fancy or sophisticated, just something when we go away for a wknd sometimes. Gravity fed most likely

I saw a thread on here bout a topoff that would work for you Ill see if I can find it. It runs out of a five gallon bucket with a small pump. use a float switch connected to one side of the pumps electrical cord turning pump on when needed

Id need something smaller than a 5gln tho. Due to work demands we travel and move frequently and often stay in hotels if they have cottages or cabins. So space is very limited, which is why i only have small tanks. I'm thinking of using one of those 1.5gln Poland spring jugs. What would be awesome would be an iv drip bag lol

It just may be hard to estimate drip rate to match evaporation rate (which constantly changes) without some kind of micro float switch you could possibly cause overflow of tank

Just use something like this bit.ly/1hDDPYC, feed it by gravity from a bucket or IV bag or whatever you can disguise. There are floats like this for about $3 on eBay also if you can come up with a mount for it, search for RO float.

The float switches are pretty small and you could easily hook on up in the back of your tank correct? Extension cord-$2.00 Float switch-$1.50 Tom's aqua lifter-$12.00 New I think? Very inexpensive and could hook to any container you want.(even a 1.5g Poland spring bottle) can't beat 15$ for peace of mind while you're gone away! You wouldn't have to use it when your home if you don't want to. They look like this: Attachments:

Yea just needs to be for when I'm gone really. Right now I just fill the task the tippy top and hope not gone more than two days. If I could get a piece of glass or something cut for the top it would save !
