Never had this problem before. got a new batch of hermit crabs in and a couple of them like to get up on my SPS and take a nap. they don't seem to be eating it just trying to get away I think? anyone have thoughts on this is it bad I mean is there any impact at all to the SPS? should I just leave it alone?

if you try to pull it off it can damage the tissue on the sps. if it isnt bothering any thing I wouldnt worry

Mine do that all the time. It impacts polyp extension but doesn't seem to hurt otherwise.

...if you want to put a stop to that, get some acro crabs. They won't tolerate the intrusion.  |

Are these as type of porcelain crab? Nope. Porcelain Crabs filter feed. These are scavengers/symbiotes. |

How big of a colony do they need to live on? Does it matter? obviously not a 1" frag.

How big of a colony do they need to live on? Does it matter? obviously not a 1" frag. Depends on the size of the crab. Maybe 4 times the size of the crab. My smaller crab is in a softball size birdsnest. My larger crab was on a fist size stylo but he shed recently, got bigger and now splits his time between the stylo and a cave right next to it. Guessing that as the stylo grows he'll go back to it full time. |
