My nano is out of room I have a 154 gallon system on deck but is months away from being complete I need room to make more frags. Here's my thought create a bare bone frag system using components that are sitting idle then combined with larger system.
Holding the water either a 5 gal home bucket or a small brute trash can Filtration 3 inches of live sand and 1 gallon of ceramic balls Flow 2 smaller power heads pointing at each other alternating and both on Heat Jagger Controller Neptune Jr Custom frag rack made with egg rate lighting 1-2 kessils Skimmer HOB super skimmer.
Later would put sand into fuges on larger setup.
Thoughts barriers?
Plan on running for 6-8 months. Primary goal is to hold and grow frags until my frag tank is up.

A 10 gal glass tank is usually around $10...why not just pick one of those up? Give you a lot more surface area.

It'd be too small I grabbed a 28 gal brute force tote tonight at Lowes for $29.98

I realize you were talking about the homer pail...a 10g would've been a better choice I needed something bigger though. And easy to take down. I'll get my moneys worth out of the tote though it'll be a frag system untily frag tank is up then I'll use it to jump start my dry rock for the display.

Which means I'll have more space to buy frags from you.

30g breeder at petco is $30 (I was looking at them last week in augusta) same surface area as a tote without all the worries of thin plastic.... plus it is shorter so it will take less to light
