I've got 2 400 gph koralias on my 55 right now which is not nearly enough flow. Would it be too much if I added a 1500 gph koralia on one end and put the two 400's on the other?

It depends if you can bounce the flow of the top or a wall/rock you can bring it down a lot. Its worth trying and just see how the.corals react. Also you can put a timer on it and have it switch that way the corals have time to really open up.

I have a 1500gph a 900gph and a 500gph plus the 1000 to 1500gph coming in of my sump and still have low flow spots +1 on the timer though it gives things a chance chill

You're looking for 20-30x turnover/hour. Depending on the depth of your sandbed and how much rock you have, realistically you might have 30-40 gallons of water in your tank at the most. I would think you should be good with another 400.

go for it a couple koralia 1400 would be great but a couple 400's on one side and a 1400 on the other should create enough random flow

I've heard people say that underneath there rock work they put pvc pipe with holes all through it except down of course lol don't want a sand storm! And end cap with a power head hooked to it to continually keep food and detritus cleaned out of dead spots underneath rock work? Anyone heard of or tried this before? I contemplated doing it when I started my tank but never did
