Been hanging some problems with the pump for my sca-302 witch is the Atman 2000 I believe? Either way I notified the company of problems and the mailed out a new pump the same day. Pump was still under warranty but very fast response and shipped very fast!

I've had so many issues with those atman pumps. Eshopps used to use them on all their skimmers. The impellers would grenade over and over again and I've even had one pump totally seize up internally. I think I went through eight or nine impellers in my old eshopps skimmer that used those pumps and at least 3-4 in the skimmers for the tank I take care of. I was told those pumps had less than a 90 day manufacturer warranty from an eshopps customer service rep. Not sure if that warranty is still the same though. At least you were able to get a replacement sent out quickly.

I like my SCA-301 (I think this is a clone of the bubble magnus almost), it pulls consistent skimmate from my tank. When I upgrade I may get a larger SCA or if the money is right a nice Reef Octopus.

Your right on the money about the sca skimmers being copies of the bubble Magnus and other protein skimmers.but aren't a lot of great things in our country just copies or reinvented products that people make to try and improve on the original design while also making it cheaper? Especially since I'm pretty sure the first bubble magnus was kind of a copy or design hijacking it self. Because people say the sca skimmer line is a copy of a skimmer that's a copy of a different skimmer?lol
Imo I'd stick with the sca-302 or asm G1 or G2 allot of the research I did lead me away from the reef octopus.(What I originally wanted) After some people on here told me to make sure I knew what I was buying before I bought it, I did some more research and found allot more people to be happy with the asm or sca skimmers then reef octopus. I mean for the price and how great they both pull sludge out of the water I just don't see how anyone could go wrong with the asm or sca. My only wish is that sca will come out with a bigger skimmer in the near future for my upgrade that I'm hoping for.but then again I can always get a asm G4

I think an asm g6 would skim any size tank you can fit in your house lol
