Hermits are cool! I'm having a hard time being disciplined with my tank. I want to throw so much life in it but don't want anything that may bother my corals. Keep an eye on those little bastards, they can cause some havoc.

Anytime I see one on a coral I grab them and throw them in the sump! But I've found that more times then not there's a piece of algae or food where ever they are on the coral and they're not actually eating a coral. I've never caught a hermit on a coral and been able to blame it for anything bad! But they still go on time out for rule violations! Haha;D

I found one this morning on my plate coral but it didn't seem to be causing harm. I knocked him of the plate and he moved on to a new spot unaffected by me moving him so it's not likely he was eating flesh or he would of gone right back to it you'd think?

Some are harmless, some aren't. Some are fine until they get big or get hungry. I keep a few blue legs and Scarlet hermits with no problems. Mine like to climb onto my sps colonies at night to sleep. Guessing I have about 10 total in my 75. They are opportunistic foragers so it's not unusual for them to steal food from corals. I have seen larger hermits literally tear open LPS polyps like acans to get at the food inside. So keep an eye on them.
