they can be turned down to 0% on both dimmers. but I'm not that sure if it would work for a 10g? Rob can answer that. it's a 1$ a gallon at pet co best time to upgrade is now! Lol 40g breeder

it would be overkill but you wouldnt ever have to worry about upgrading the light when you upgrade the frag tank or set up a cube or.... I am getting another light to make a 30g tall an sps tank! I could never do it with t5 and mh is to hot
