So I have a 58 gallon tank. 36x18x18 . The fixture covers 24x24. I have mostly sps. So the fixture is 16x8 with 120 optics. Would running one be enough. I can run 2 length wise or ill have a lot of spill over. Maybe run two side by side having the 8 inches in front?

Do you have a center brace on your tank or no? Also the 16x8 fixture (which I think I am rightly assuming is a reefbreeders one or similar d120) can cover 36" with some shadows on the side. Here is what I got off the reefbreeders site, "Each fixture measures 16" long x 8.5" wide, x 2.5" tall, and covers a 24" cube for sps, and a 36" long area for sps in the middle, and lps/softies on the edges." If you have 6" on each side where there are lps or soft corals you would be fine, however if you have sps on that side I would say that you would have to get another fixture of some type. They do make a 24" fixture that would have covered you just fine, and it is controllable, but more expensive obviously. If you are worried about try out 2 par 38's on each side and they wouldnt spill, if you get the gooseneck from reefbreeders it may actually look cool too, and they could be angled howveer you want. Here is a link to some quick ones I found on the internet for different prices. www.amazon.com/dp/B004L5EZQU/ref=asc_df_B004L5EZQU2610948?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=nextagus0019805-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B004L5EZQU www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=23655&cmpid=03csent&ref=3665&subref=AA&CA_6C15C=1059611413The par38s won't have the light spillover that you would encounter with 2 fixtures, but are not as powerful. Or you could get 60 degree lenses for 2 fixtures which are cheap, but you have to buy the 2nd fixture. There really are a lot of options. The real key for me would be what I want to see because I am doing open top, which is sounds like you have because you are worried about light spill over, and because you are running an sps dominated tank the decision is difficult to make. Either way I think it will look great whatever you do!

Then you should be set with your current setup. Unless you want more light. I would see how it looks and if it works for you then you don't have to buy another!

FYI 36 x 18 x 18 = 11,664 sqin 11,664 / 231 (231 sqin in a gallon) = 50.49 gal I think your tank would look best with the 2 leds and their 8" side facing front. If need be just dial them down a bit and have niiice full coverage that so many others go without

I kinda guessed on the measurements ... anyway the light is over my tank and looks amazing I'm very happy with the panel. It has awesome coverage. I don't see any reason right now to get 2.

Got it from supermart on eBay for 118$ shipped. The optics are 120 I think.
