I've got a lot of micro bubbles going on in my tank. I'm using a rubbermaid tote as a sump, with a smaller tote within it with a hole cut toward the back side of the larger pump (aquacoral bubble diffuser style) My overflow is routed to the smaller tote, my Skimmer is in the smaller tote as well I have a coralife needle skimmer (it's producing a bunch of bubbles but virtually no skimmate). I have a hanging basket that the overflow flows into that has some chemipure elite in it. I turned off the sump for a day and was still getting bubbles from my overflow. I tried a filter sock but this actually increased the bubbles because it made the larger bubbles smaller as they pushed through the threads.....should probably have a trouble shooting thread as my tank seems to have so many issues. Any ideas or suggestions? I just cleaned my drive pump and resealed its plumbing this past weekend (was happening before I did this)

I would blame the skimmer I used to use the coral life skimmer but it is very hard to adjust and needs to be adjusted often. I am guessing your sump dosnt have baffles? if the water level drops even a little the skimmer wont work correctly do you have ato? do you dose kalk? if so drip it into the skimmer it will work allot better

I see three possible problems that could be contributing. First, you can't see through the rubbermaid totes which can make it difficult to determine where the problem is truly coming from. Second, the smaller internal totes as bubble diffusers are major space wasters and often times still allow microbubbles to exit into the rest of the sump. Plus you need to be able to see where you direct the exiting water. Third it sounds like the skimmer is not working properly. Is there any chance you could post some photo's of your sump setup along with skimmer. Water depth where you have your skimmer would be good to know as well. Hopefully between everyone here we can help you come up with a better solution. Keep up updated!
