I have recently been told that Silversides are packaged in with allot of phosphates and also have little to no nutritional value now I'm having problems with my phosphates since I have a trigger and 2 anemones and that's what I was instructed to feed them! so the big question is what's people's thoughts on this and also what are people on the board that have these big full happy anemones feed there anemones? And the same for my trigger? the only other thing my trigger will eat is these zoo med zooplankton flakes that I absolutely hate putting in my tank but that is all my trigger and Angel well eat! any help would be much appreciated

What kind of anenomes do you have? I don't feed mine at all, just use the light and clowns feed my RBTAs.

I have a sebea and a condy I believe? both were sold to me at pet co as sebea anemones but looking at pictures and stuff I think one is a condy but I could be wrong and I have 2 clowns but they are tank bred and so far have shown no interest in the anemones

with triggers you need to feed them clams ,snails.... if they cant grind there teeth down they over grow there mouth and they cant eat.... this makes water very dirty but is a must!! maybe get a phosphate reactor and a very large skimmer nems- I feed raw shrimp or fish any raw seafood. I eat allot of seafood so mine have been getting fresh raw lobster legs lately

I feed silversides (San Francisco/Sally's Brand or ones I collect myself) to my fw rays and anemones on occasion. I haven't heard about silversides packaged with phosphates. The back of the package should list all ingredients. Mine says silversides and water. With some frozen seafood items for human use, I believe some form of phosphate (polyphosphate)is added to prevent freezer burn. Variety is the key. Scallop, shrimp, squid, shellfish, and fish fillets are also good foods. I personally thing silversides are a good food. Perhaps not a steady diet, but by feeding a whole organism you are providing additional minerals, nutrients, etc. that are included in the organs, skin, and bones of the silversides.

If you buy scallops, make sure they are "dry". This means they haven't been sprayed with phosphate. Also, what I read about some frozen foods is that the are not frozen in RO/DI water. Thus could have phosphates and other unwanted things in them. I'm not an expert by any means. Just what I've been reading. Food for thought, so to speak.

I just wish someone would trade me something for this trigger I think I'm a little over my head with it right now I wasn't informed of all this when I got it I'm sure other people have tanks that are allot more suited for a trigger? it's actually very peaceful doesn't touch my corals or anything I have snails crabs and nothing will occasionally Chase a fish away from his cave but he's best buddies with my new yellow tang witch is kinda weird. but I think it's cool to watch! wish I would of just got the coral I wanted that day instead! Lol
