www.aliexpress.com/item/D120-LED-Aquarium-Light-Ship-From-USA-Directly-USA-Customers-Only/1116288818.html Is posting links like this not allowed like on RC? I don't want to step on toes! 138 dollars x2 units. I mean its crazy cheap. Only issue I have is that there is a tad more white than I would like, and on top of that they are 14000k whites, not 4500k like reefbreeders recommends/uses. Do we know what the difference in look will be? More blue tint is my presumption? Less coral growth but more color? be interested in hearing what you have for layouts, the RC thread is just too long and drawn out. Way to derail my thread... Just kidding! Haven't heard of that light before. I didn't see any reviews for it, but might be worth it. I eventually would like to put some leds over my ray tank.

I hung mine with the kit that come with the photon. i used the screw hooks that are rated for 50-60lbs each in drywall. i figured that was plenty of hold. If I do an order with you, I'll have to check it out. Maybe you can give me a crash course on programming the light too. The manual isn't much help.

Sure. It really isn't as bad as the manual makes it seem.

Spotfin I am so jealous of the Photons, Are you using the increments by the 1/2 hour or hour? I know you are probably still ramping up the power over time, but the fact that it can adjust is awesome, and only has one plug. Would also be interested in hearing how the color looks compared to what you were using before, if it looks washed out or if its really blue. How many gallons is your ray tank? I just love seeing them because they are so fascinating. I think that for the price these reefbreeders fixtures in general do exactly what I need, If I want to see a lightning storm I will step outside. The lady I replied to said it did have a 2 year warranty. For a custom setup with reds and violets I was amazed. Where did you find the $100 ones with dimmers with no warranty, I would be interested in those too.

Oh, it's still in the box... Maybe I'll get to it next week. I do think I will go with the 1/2 hr increments. I currently have a t5 light- 1 10,000K bulb and 1 actinic bulb. The ray tank is about 200 gals, freshwater.

Update- I bought some fancy chain and hooks to hang the light yesterday. Spent a few minutes last night measuring the ceiling and marking where to drill some holes. Baby steps...
Industry, I was going to talk to you yesterday about your Photon but didn't have time. Yours sure looked nice though!

you have way more patients then me!I probably would have had it hanging from the ceiling still in the box I'd of tried to put it up so fast! Lol I saw a demo for these led's yesterday that simulate clouds passing by randomly and lightning storms and you can set it so the sin rises on one side of the light and sets on the other side at night you can program it to simulate the actual Sun light we get outside everyday of the year and you only have to program it once! you can make it so there's like a 3% chance to have a thunder storm everyday it was crazy but I was also to afraid to see how much they cost cause I knew it was way out of my budget! witch is right about zero right now! Lol sorry for getting off topic a little bit I just thought it was awesome even though most people probably already know about them

Got it hung the other night. Guess I shouldn't measure stuff late a night as the light is about 1" too far to the right... How high off of the water should I hang it? It's about 6-7" now. Industry, are you using the factory set programming? The control panel is a bit confusing to figure out.

I'm using a custom profile. The interface is a little clunky, but once you do it a few times it's a breeze. I would hang it at 6" or so, assuming that gives you good coverage. I would also start off pretty low on the intensity, then work up slowly, but you probably already know that.

I plan to have it adjust the light level every 1/2 hour. Do I need to manually program the light settings for each 1/2 hour?

Yes. Jump the time forward by a half hour, adjust, jump ahead, adjust, etc. Also, make sure you run through the preview all the way, otherwise it won't save your settings in the event of a power outage.
