So I have a 40b I plan to set up, but the plan was after I move, however I have people interested in my 46 setup and would like to free up the space, not to mention have the money to put into my tank . I will likely be moving by June, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this. I've thought about transferring everything over except the sand and run it bare bottom until after the move or just buy a couple bags for a thin layer. I don't want to disrupt things to much to many times. Sent from my SCH-I535 using ProBoards

hahaha! Well, I figured Id just stay with a shallow bed. I think im just gonna suck it out very slowly with water changes. How often do you have to vacuum a shallow bed?

Thanks rob. Lindsey, I would still get rid of what you have in your tank, you won't have to vacuum if you keep that because it doesn't trap the nasties.

Decided I'm going to switch over the tanks today and just run bare for a few weeks, or a very shallow bed with fresh sand so I don't stir up all sorts of bad things from my own bed. Course five hours from now I might change my mind again hahaha

You ladies are funny lol. You could always rinse your old sand and go with that. How thin of a bed are you thinking about running now? How thick was your previous bed? What kind of sand? Sugar grain or caribsea special grade?
