So, I noticed my zoas didnt really open much and the ones that did dont look as good as they normally do. I checked my water and my PH is fine, zero ammonia, zero nitrites, phosphates are fine and my nitrates are between 10 and 20..The only thing i can think of is the LTA is going downhill and affecting the water or I need to do a water change in a bad way. My lta hasnt been happy but he is still alive because he's still flinching and moving. Anyways, any ideas on what could cause the zoas to not open?
secondly I was wondering...a friend of mine had a thought that the LTA and the BTA are poisoning each other. I notice the male clown will go in between the BTA and the LTA, but could this cause problems? They pretty much at seperate parts of the tank. He thought 1)maybe they were having a chemical fight or 2) the clown is spreading enzimes from the BTA to the LTA and vise virsa.
My thought about that is, my BTA is small and bleached AND it has a less potant sting than the LTA and I also thought that since the LTA was bigger and darker in color and has a more potant sting, that the BTA would be affected if that was the case rather than the LTA.
Any thoughts on that? I will say, other than today, my zoas are great, my xenia is getting bigger, my palys have gone from 2 to 7, my button polyps have gone from 2 to 4, my star polyps are def multiplying, and my purple mushrooms have gone from 3 to 5 so my water quality cant be that bad! Any Ideas?

If the LTA is going downhill and dies, you could lose everything in the tank. You may want to consider sacrificing it and taking it out, or putting it in QT before that happens. It sucks to lose something, but I'd rather lose one than the whole tank.

My zoas still don't want to open all the way. Is this normal behavior? Do they do that sometimes or is it a bad sign? On another note, Ill prob be bringing the LTA to a friends today

No, it's not really normal behavior. You could try moving them around the tank and trying different light and flow. But I might actually wait to see if removing the LTA helps. Are you running any type of carbon? Carbon can help remove any toxins being released into the water.

I am running about a cup of carbon. They were open EVERY day big and happy but the last 3 days they have NOT been happy. I did move them away from the LTA in case he had something to do with it.

Ok...So, I was looking into the tank and I saw one of my emerald crabs on the zoa rock. It didnt look like he was snipping them but I decided to move him away from them and went on with my business and I was just looking again and I noticed some of them were just kinda dangling, so i went to move the rock in hopes of a better area and a BUNCH of heads started falling off and floating around... I decided to grab my turkey baster and blow off the remaining dangling heads and I recorded it. If everything else is doing great wth is going on Here's the video... s270.photobucket.com/user/lindsey0784/media/VIDEO0145-0_zps355f3372.mp4.html

I can't see the vid but are you SURE it's a real emerald? There are some nasty ones that look like them but are more fuzzy.
