So I was cleaning out the fluval edge that I recently replaced with a 10.8 gallon cuboid. While I was doing it I ended up cracking the top glass. So much for trading it in for credit with Vance or Easy So I took a razor blade and de-topped it. Thinking of making it a little betta albimarginatta species tank. Ideally I would find a female and three males to form a breeding group. First I need to finish cleaning the old edge and leak testing it.

Countertop in the kitchen where I was thinking of putting it isn't level so I'm going to have to make a platform for it.
I've got a 25Watt cobalt neotherm heater from when I had it setup before. But I'll need a different filter and light.
For filter I'm thinking the best think for the Albi's might be sponge filter. But I do hate the noise :/
I need to figure out what to do for a light as well. something that will deliver low light to the substrate through a cover of red root floaters. Any suggestions?

So the tank is now essentially a rimless tank? How about a small aquaclear hob? Probably could use a clamp on led light.

Yes a unintentional rimless . I could use a AC HOB. In fact I have the one that came with the edge. I just want to have floating plants on this one. My HOBs have always manage to kill them in the past. I could create some sort of barrier around the HOB that prevents the plants from getting sucked in. I've also read about people stringing monofilament fishing line between two suction cups below the water level so it prevents the floaters from crossing. For a light I was planning on a clamp on led light. The A80 would be perfect as it's over powered but completely adjustable. The drawback is price at 129 for the light and another 30-40 for the clamp mount. I thought about doing a desk lamp with a CFL or Par38 bulb but I'm not sure the coverage would be good enough, maybe though? Someone suggested one of these, but I think it would take two for proper coverage; www.amazon.com/dp/B07236CXBQ...9756&sr=1&th=1Someone else suggested one of these which might work; www.hinterfeld.com/chihiros-a-series-plus-aquatic-aquarium-super-led-plant-light-30-40-45-50-60-80-90-120cm-1-2-3-4-tank/

Test scape looks good. First link didn't work for me. The light in the second one would work. You could make something to keep the plants away from the outfall of the filter. Maybe even a zip tie.

That’s a sweet piece of drift wood Thanks. It was from a setup I tore down awhile ago. You should have seen it then. It was even better(more branchy) , but that was before the BN Pleco rasped all the smaller branches away. I think I'm done in the future having Plecos in setups with nice pieces of spiderwood or manzanita as they just destroy them. Mopani seems to last longer.

Added plants today. coin mini buce from buceplant.com the rest came from a seller on plantedtank.net RRF Medium baby's tears Marsilea crenata Ludwigiaxlacustris Hydrocoytle Japan Dwarf Sag Microsorum mini leaf bad pick but it gives an idea. Water's a bit cloudy from doing a 90 percent WC and messing with the plants. Hopefully it will clear by tomorrow and they'll perk up over the next few days.

I might have to hit you up for a bag if we cross paths again. Great food for the 125 tank.
