Water got cloudy between last night and this morning. Looks like a bacterial bloom. All the plants look(unsurprisingly) a bit beat up. Hopefully they'll bounce back quickly.

Probably from the wood.

Possibly, but I don't usually get cloudy(white) water from my driftwood, just tannins(tea colored) staining. IME white cloudy water is classic new tank syndrome symptom of an early bacterial bloom, which usually disappears in a week. I swapped out the stock GAC bag for a bag of purigen to eliminate any discoloration in the water. Ammonia=0, Nitrite=0, Nitrate=0-5ppm. I'm assuming the amount of plants I added must be soaking up all the nutrients. TDS=117

I've had drift wood do this before, when the driftwood is dry and added to a brand new tank. It should clear up soon. Really too early for any nutrients to be present. Is your substrate and filter media brand new as well?

Is your substrate and filter media brand new as well? Substrate is new, but it has a 1/2 inch base of organic potting soil so plenty of organic material for a cycle.

Should see some ammonia and nitrite start to creep up soon. How are the plants doing?

Should see some ammonia and nitrite start to creep up soon. How are the plants doing? The mosses have perked up. The rest are still in transplant shock I think. Might start dosing Excel to give them a boost.

Added some blackworms , Dero, Stylaria, and Aeolosoma in the hopes that they'll colonize the substrate.
Started dosing Excel at 1/4 ml per day possibly working up to 1 ml/day if it seems to help.

dimmers finally arrived for the chihiros c-series 14W lights. Now I have to figure out what intensity to keep them at.

Those Danionella remind me of young smelt. Tank looks good.

Thanks. It's plugging along slowly. Plants are recovering slowly. The crypt parva bounced back the best. The Marsilea will come around eventually. Hopefully the Monte carlo will do well. The danionella are cool if small and lacking in color. They eat anything. Typically they only school tightly when they are scared. I'm hoping to add Some Red rilli rcs, Tangerine tiger shrimp, and Thai micro crabs. For fish I'd like to add a small group of indostomus paradoxus. I was up at Vance's in Bucksport last week and was seriously tempted. He had CPD's and Clown Killies. But I resisted and didn't pick any up . I might have to setup a 20L for them now though.........stop me somebody plz

Ordered some more plants to fill in a bit more. Some tissue culture crypt parva. First time dealing with tissue culture. Very tight root structure to the point that plantlets are difficult to separate without destroying a bunch. Ended up just busting it up into clumps instead of individual plants.
Picked up three varieties of Buce. Mini catherine( looks awesome), Some Coin mini and Kendang mini(sp?) Both are a bit bigger leaved than I want for this build so I'll probably rehome them to my Stiphodon stream tank when I get it set up and get more mini purple and catherine for this tank then.
