Hey I'm down in Florida for a getaway and finding some AWESOME reef stores down here. Also plan on spending a good majority of the day snorkeling tomorrow, if anyone is looking for anything specific that J could possibly help with, let me know. Prices are quite reasonable. Best to text me at 207-232-0018!

very nice facility. Well worth the $.25 tour. I don't think they were too impressed when they found out that I wasn't still in the industry though. I think they still thought I was a retailer

Funny you say that. They had just gotten a bunch in last night that were in quarantine. Beautiful salt and corals, but now I understand why we usually have such a hard time with feeding. All tje large Atlantic Angels were being fed live prawn the size of a hot dog!

Do you happen to know what species of rays they got in. Most are CITIES listed now, so those out of Brazil and Columbia are scarce and pricey. I think Peru is still exporting.

They probably don't let you take pictures of their facility and livestock? My dad took me to a fish farm in Florida many years ago, not sure if it was Segrest or not. It was in the "fish farm zone"- west and south of Tampa if I remember correctly. Ironically, there was a fellow working there that either was from Unity or went to Unity College.

Ya Seagrest is just outside Tampa. This was there shipping and recieving facility. I didn't take pics or ask (or ask much of anything) once they realized I was just a hobbyist now and not a retailer. You could tell Scott (Sales Manager) wasn't very impressed, but still gave me the $.25 tour. He probably figured he had WAYbetter rhings to do with the hour of his time.

Sounds like they really don't cater to the public, mainly retail owners.

Unfortunately I came down here at the wrong time for snorkeling I guess. The water is very turbulent which is stirring up the sand to much. When I went parasailing, the proprietor explained that he had never really seen it like this. You could see, from up in the air, a definitive line where it ended. It didn't seem to dissipate until about a half mile out. It would seem that this may be driving away the aquatic wildlife brcause he said there were bottlenose dolphins that they see on a daily basis that were nowhere to be found. He actually cruised around for an extra 1/2 hour cruising around to find them with no luck. He was baffled and said he had never seen it like this. I tried to snorkel in several places just off shore and it was the same everywhere. Saw a small shoal of juvenile grunts, but that was it. Everyone around here says that if you wanna snorkel, you either need to go to the keys or go on a snorkeling tour where they take you to THEIR personal island where they have their own man made reefs set up. Next time I'll stay longer and head to the Keys.
