I've never seen light of any sort melt corals, even when upgrading like that. 99% of the time the corals that don't like the extra light will simply close up or start to expel their symbiotic zooxanthellae algae and simply turn almost completely white, "coral bleaching". I've had euphylia and many other corals melt like you describe a few times over the years and more often than not, if it's not an easily noticed case of coral warfare where one coral sends out digestive organs or sweeper tentacles to kill another coral, it's usually related to water parameters of some sort. Not all tests are inaccurate either. That said, simple water parameter changes in salinity and temp can really have a huge impact on corals. Most of my melting coral issues have generally been related to low alk, mag, cal or water temp being too high or too low, just my 2 cents, hope things improve. Temp and salinity were same as normal. As to others, like I said I'm not into testing. BUT, this makes me wonder. Could my parameters be too HIGH? As I've stated in other posts, I'm also not one for additives. In the 20+ years I've been reefing, I've always (for the most part) used Reef Crystals and had good (not great) luck. Good health, but slow growth. So the other day I picked up some Instant Ocean Reef Accelerator. Supposed to be an all in one. Added last Thursday, a week after water change. Could that be the cause?

Oh and by the looks of it, unless this water change, carbon, and PS help, I'm gonna lose the hole thing. For any of you who haven't seen it, this colony was about the size of my head.

Really sorry to hear this! I wouldn't rule out the lighting change, it's just to hard to rule out with the incident being so close to the lighting change. You went from 120w to 300w so you should of started at close to 40% of what you had before. Again really sorry for your loss!

Out of curiosity, what was the purpose of dosing reef accelerator without knowing your water parameters? That's a giant red flag pointing to a now current problem with your water chemistry.

Bring some water over to Greg's and ask him to test it. Then you'll know asap exactly what's up with your levels.

See through but white foggy. Hoping it has stopped. There were no new heads last night. May have caught the problem before it decimated it (about 8 left). Anxious to see when I get home from work.

Causes are kinda mysterious and random from what I've read.
