L lot of times anemone will split when stressed if they are close to dividing already, its a survival tactic. so in theory one part may find ideal conditions and survive.

Yeah I know, I just find it so fascinating an Animal with no brain can even recognize stress or danger? Also every Anomone is different, some grow to 12"+ and refuse to split and others split every chance they get. Idk? Just really cool to watch and learn everyday.
