I use the B setup with a slight difference due to limited space. it is 2 10 gal aquariums linked with a 2" water bridge . this also slows the warer down in the planted section and gives me a seperate rock zone with small rubble rock for filtering

refugium.bmp (750.05 KB) in first chamber is down tube from tank and Protein Skimmer. in the middle chamber have mineral mud is why have a short wall then space and a higher wall so water flows in just above mud. right in front of that opening have a long air stone goes all way across the width of that opening and a piece of latch hook mat the width of tank zip tied to it used for an algae scrubber. ive scraped the mat up with a hole saw to make it rough so it gathers algae nicely. then chaeto in the rest of area. I also have a regular light bulb over middle chamber and algae scrubber and cheato grow crazy. third chamber is pump and carbon bags when needed. works very nice
