I noticed cottony like (fluffy) growth on the body of my clownfish. From what I can compare to online it looks like some kind of protozoan parasite. I have quarantined him as it does not appear on my other fish. I can start treating with Paraguard, but think that I should treat with food as well. I can drive down to easy tomorrow to get something but just didn't know if anyone had anything closer.

look up fresh water dip, I did this with a fish I got from petco that looked suspect, it worked awesome

how long have you had the fish? is it a growth of does it look like scales falling off?

Had him almost a year. No I don't scales are falling off, but a first it looked wispy like cotton, after dipping him in paraguard it looked more like reddish spots. could be the different lighting I have in qt. Still very active and hungry. Only recent change was the addition of bta. Other fish still seem fine.

if it dosnt look bad I would say it is probably the clowns slimecoat getting used to the nem

I think it looks a lot worse in person than it does on film. Covers most of his body, and around gill on left side.

not sure...
again i have a bottle of quickcure... I treat the fish in a bag for a few min then put the fish back if it is a parasite it will be gone.....

fish are protected by their slime coat... with clownfish the slimecaot absorbs the chemicals from the nem thats why they dont get stung and eaten by it. until it absorbs the chemicals from the nem into the slimecoat it will get stung....
not saying that getting stung by the new nem didnt irritate the slimecoat and cause an infection.....

I agree with rob it looks like stings and what you described sounds like a slime coat reaction.
My first clown has so many sting scars on him because it's switched what it's hosted in so many times. Every time they switch there slime has to get used to the new stinging properties. Just adding only a bta recently only further confirms this imo.
Qt is always a good thing just to be safe though on the off chance it something else.

if it is just the slime coat I wouldnt treat the fish.... the treatment will most likely stress the fish more causing more of the slime coat to shed... without the slimecoat the fish has no natural protection....
