I am talking about live aquaria and divers den arent they separate company's like walmart and walmart.com I would say no but it is depending how they have their LLC set up. Either way with the branding I would think it would be tough to keep LA and DD separate.

I am talking about live aquaria and divers den arent they separate company's like walmart and walmart.com They are all the same company, just that Live Aquaria is located in Los Angeles right near LAX and Divers Den is in Wisconsin at the home location. Everything goes thru LA, then they send stuff to DD for the special treatment.

You make your order from liveaquaria and it's shipped to you directly from the wholesaler in LA. Divers den is fish/coral/inverts that they pick because they stand out/rare and are supposed to be healthier and kept in their own facility for a period of time. I have heard both over the years, but it looks like you may be right.
I just found this quote online -
"Drs. Foster and Smith has no financial stake in Quality Marine; we choose to purchase a large percentage of the animals we offer from QM, as in my opinion, they are hands down the best importer/wholesaler in the entire country. I first started dealing with Quality Marine back in the mid 80's working in a brick and motor retail aquarium store.
CIS is a stand-alone importer/wholesale operation, located in California, and is not affiliated with Drs. Foster and Smith, or Quality Marine in any way. CIS handles the fulfillment for Petco’s online livestock initiative ...
Happy fishkeeping! Kevin Kohen "

So I would think CIS would go away?

I'm just praying they leave divers den alone and allow it to operate and continue on with their business as usual. I know it's probably a long shot though.

Here is a quote from Reef Central, about 20 minutes ago-
"Greetings, I would like to take a moment to respond and address some concerns posted in this thread.
Dr. Race Foster and Dr. Marty Smith have worked incredibly hard over the last 31 years, to build an incredibly successful business, which revolves around education, pet heath, and responsible pet ownership. The Petco mission is elevating the lives of animals and enhancing the connection people have with their pets, with a commitment to the highest standards of social responsibility, while continually striving to make things better for pets, people and the planet. Understanding each company’s mission and goals are very similar, we feel this partnership and synergy is going to be beneficial to animals, pet owners, and aquarium hobbyists and enthusiasts alike.
I can assure everyone, my personal mission as the LiveAquaria Director is to take LiveAquaria.com to an even higher level than ever before. The continued expansion of our Aquaculture Coral and Marine Life facility in Rhinelander Wisconsin, home of the LiveAquaria.com Divers Den®, allows us to offer an even greater assortment of quality aquatic life shipped direct to your door.
Rest assured, Dr. Race Foster and I are not going anywhere, and will continue to operate Drs. Foster and Smith pet supplies and LiveAquaria.com as it's business as usual. Both Race and I are incredibly excited for the future and what lies ahead.
Kindest Regards, Kevin Kohen"
Maybe there is hope for everyone.

You won't see any changes at all at your local stores, this is all about online sales. They can sell whatever they want in the stores, but they aren't going to stock high end equipment. They'll let DFS keep the products they currently sell which is more what hobbyist look for.
Of course, that's only my opinion.

Sounds like Race and Kevin aren't going anywhere. A big money deal like this and they are going to keep their fingers in the pie. I can't imagine we will see many changes- many good things in Fosters and Smith and PetCo isn't going to blow this deal. Kinda similar to when one big airline buys out another.

I talked to my sister in law (who is a regionl manager for petco; everything NY north) about this on Thanksgiving. She said there is nothing to worry about. First of all, anything we order from Liveaquaria is coming from the same distributor that petco uses. The problem with petco (in store) is between shipping and handling once it's made it to the store. She guaranteed me that anything you order from petco.com for livestock would be the exact same thing as Liveaquaria (with a better arrive alive guarantee). As to Diver's Den, that she didn't know. I'm sure prices will go up, but tthat's the nature of the beast. Now PLEASE don't take this as a push for petco. I, like most of you have had some bad results with livestock I've recieved from them and will 99% of the time turn down a purchase for fear of disaster. Her suggestion was to ordee from petco.com. We'll all just have to wait and see what happens!

I've only had one person say they could order from them at all and they're in Casco I believe. Sent from my SM-N910R4 using proboards
