I looked at a piece of rock that I have had 2 baby ricordeas on forever, and there has been a breakout of something. It's cool looking, it's hard like a monti cap, sort of looks like monti cap. It's in the frag system where I haven't kept montis since the tank was rebuilt. Photo is under whites, no blues. I don't see this anywhere else in the tank.

There's a Slim chance its a type of macro algae but most likely it's just a type of coralline algae.

Not that I know for 100% but I googled it and found branching coraline but couldn't find one picture of ribbon like coraline algae? There's 2 types of other algae I found that grow in this pattern and neither are coraline? Could you show a picture of coraline in this kind of growth? Lobophora and this one..... Padina pictured below. Attachments:

The two pictured above have a striking resemblance. If it's coraline then that's fine with me. But all I'm saying is I read 2 articles this mourning that said you couldn't tell the difference without a microscope? so like I asked before how are you positive from just a picture? One of the biggest problems people have with nuisance algae is misidentification. I never said it wasn't coraline I just asked how you were positive? I know I'm a pain in the ass.
