Its always good to take a few reading from different thermometer and average them. A degree of difference between then is normal for cheap thermometers. At the end of the day with regards to accuracy you get what you pay for, I do like the neptune system.
Also as long as your aquarium is somewhere around 79^F and the temperature is not changing more that about 1 degree over 24hours then you should be good.
