I miss my 120 fowlr lionfish are one of my favorites! the red one you have looks good. I will have to find a pic of the black lion I had (true black lionfish no longer exist in the aquarium trade, they are all crosses red/black) also look up atlantic volitan that was caught in ny. its white with big orange spots... if I could find one colored the same I would set up a new tank in a heartbeat the only thing I could keep for cleanup crew was long spine urchin's and chocolate stars but if you have a trigger your out of luck it will eat them. imo- snowflake eel is a must for a fish only tank!!! mine would go in the lions mouth and take his food and I hand fed him very cool fish

that is true with any fish... the most memorable fish I had jump was a mandarin. I sat down in front of a 20g at my desk and a mandarin landed in my hand lol. the last fish I had jump was a bellus angel just before that was a phantom clown, this is the reason I put a canopy on my tank
I have never had a snowflake jump, but im sure it can happen. snowflakes can be trained easy, feed it with a feeder stick so it dosnt go near the top of the tank looking for food. (I think this is the reason most fish jump)

I had a snowflake moray in my first SW tank back in the mid 80's, it disappeared and we never found it anywhere around the tank.....so we assumed the cat got it. Then about 9 years ago we were cleaning out my parents house when they sold it, and I found the eel under the flooring that was pulling up in the living room where I had the tank. It was there for like 20 years.............LOL

ok... have you had a eel jump threw eggcrate? would love to see a 1/2" thick fish get out a 1/2" hole. lol they dont sit there poking there head up out of the water 2" to get up to the egg crate never mind hitting the hole just right to pull there whole body threw...
white eggcrate has worked for me and everyone I know with a snowflake eel,or fish that are known jumpers. I have had 3 in the past 12-15 years. the biggest was 3 years old I got him at about the size of a pencil, then he went to another tank for 5 years no problems at all.
or brs sells screen tops but they are expensive.

Last summer we went to Hampton beach, along the way back home stopped this Rocky beach where a couple people were catching bait crabs. Forgot what they were called but they have claws like fiddle and are extremely adaptive, I guess they are saying they are invasive. Anyway we brought a couple home and put them in the tank and they never bothered anything. They are a greenish mottled type color.
