Here is a simple solution to issues with using high Amperage, high current items with your controller power bars such as Heaters, MH lights, chillers. Easy to build and cheaper then having a power bar repaired. Instead of using a four outlet set up I used three - two outlet set ups, one runs my chiller, one will do the MH lights, and another does my heaters. www.aquariumcontrollers.com/diy/4-plug-powerbar-extender.php

So how many led modules can you hook up to the Jr? I don't really need that many things hooked to it and spending $500+ right now just isn't an option?
That's why I want to know witch one does more right out the box the apex Jr our the reefkeeper lite w/sl1 module?. I'm really only trying to control my heater, ph and possibly dosing pumps in the near future? Might throw one of my regular power heads onto it so I can wave mode it and ato to.lol

I just bought the apex Jr I think it'll do everything I need it to. I don't want to buy more then I need. There's a TON of upgrade capabilities for even the Jr. I'll be able to take care of my tank while I'm gone and that's most important to me. Well that and emergencies like heater failure.
Every person I talked to said, if your going to get a controller you have to go Neptune apex. Last but not least.....I'd like to give a big shout out to cultivated reef for helping me to choose wisely and getting the Jr for me!

Isn't the Jr the same as the regular, you just start with fewer things? If you add enough upgrades, there is no difference, correct?

I think you can convert the Jr to a regular apex with the $250 apex control box or whatever but I'm not positive? And to answer your other question no it's not the same it's smaller The energy bar only comes with 4 outlets instead of 8 and they aren't variable output like the regular apex. But like you said if I want any of that I can upgrade, energy bar 8 is a little over a hundred.
Pm1 module is what I'll be getting next so I can control ph, orp and hook an ato and dosing pumps up. Then lunar module for me it'll do pretty much everything I want plus some and I can always upgrade. I'm sure if I wanted to resell it, it wouldn't take long.

I have the apex and absolutely love it. It does everything I need and more! I have it set up to do a water change every night (just one gallon a night of course = 10% weekly) I have it set up to dose my vinegar and vodka. It also controls my AI Sol Blues. I also just bought the feeder from neptune and it feeds my fish as well... I have it set up so it automatically empties my skimmer container when that is full, and I have it set up with my Reef Octopus skimmer collection cup cleaner as well. You can also use float switches with the breakout box, as well as doorbells for momentary switches (extra feed button, mixing new saltwater for 12 hours, etc.) This was one of the best purchases I have ever made!!! I have never felt guilty about spending the money... Like you said, it would cost way more to replace everything in the tank, if it crashed... I like it for piece of mind. I know that if the power goes out, it will do what needs to be done, and then let me know its doing it! Also if something should overflow, it will let me know what is going on. The customer support is awesome, when I absolutely cant figure something out, I just post to the new neptune forum, if they cant figure it out (which is very rare) I call customer service, and they always figure it out! Its a great system!
