Update : I got my second clown to make a pair. The other has fallen in love with the hammer coral as well. Which by the way looks as good as ever!!!

you dont want the clowns bothering the lps corals, they beat the crap out of them when they do.
when I first cut my frogspawn from 60+ heads to 9, my clowns hosting it killed 4 polyps and the 5 left didnt grow for almost a year, I took the clowns away from it and in 2 years it was back to 50+ heads and was about 80 heads when I started cutting it this time. even if they dont kill it they bother it enough it will slow growth.....

Rob is right! I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now. If the clowns don't irritate the LPS coral to the point of tissue recession then they generally don't continue to grow as fast. If you don't want an anemone to host your clowns than a cluster of hairy mushrooms or a toadstool corals can make a great surrogate host that can hold up to the constant beating from a pair of clowns. Especially if thy start breeding. Most frogspawns and hammer corals have a powerful sting that can leave numerous black sting spots all over your clowns after a while as well.

I got the best picture I could this is my clown the can't stay away from frog spawn and hammers! You can see the black spots all over him and they're worse on the other side and in person. Then again like I said before there's no guarantee they'll host what you want them to. I have hairy mushrooms and bta's and they still go mess with my Lps to much! Even though they get the sh¡+ stung out of them. Attachments:

Haha as long as you don't mind the possibility of losing the frag YOU paid for then nobody should care. Personally I'm trying to get mine to stop and only go in my bta's because it's an amazing site to see your clowns hosting an anemone just like they would in "Nature" bubble tip and clown fish both happy as pigs in sh¡+! Lol

Lol I plan on eventually maybe getting an anemone, maybe when I can get a little larger tank so I don't have to worry about it, and definitely not until my tank is more established than it is currently. Until then the hammer it is !

clowns are dumb if you put a nice piece of plastic in the tank they like they will host it. the problem is once they get used to the hammer you will have to remove it to get them to host something else, even if you have a nem nothing says they will host it
