New England Aquarium Services is AMAZING! Rick is the owner and is fantastic to deal with! He is really nice as well as incredibly smart and has about 30 years under his belt. He sells fish and corals and recently opened for retail on Saturdays and has set up some frag tanks (some 10-20) and also has a few colonies and higher end pieces. His prices are VERY fair and he treats his customers like family, he even gives discounts on salt and products for his return customers! Also, Rick has set up a lounge specifically for us (the consumers) to be able to get together and talk fish talk and offers coffee as well and he also plans to hold frag swaps every three months for us. (donations encouraged) Rick works for UNE and does all kinds of experiments with things (ie, breeding rodifers, cuttle fish, nuibranches) as well as making acrylic tanks in his warehouse. All around, their staff is amazing, very helpful and he has great products! He even QT's EVERY fish that comes in for a period of at least three weeks to ensure their health (they are more pricy then petco, but you get what you pay for!) I HIGHLY recommend going there!

I have wanted to check this place out since I heard about it, but seems very non-approachable if you don't already know them. Their website offers no info for the hobbyist. How would someone go about arranging a visit, and do they do appointments mid-week? Weekends aren't usually an option for me.

I think he's still only open on Saturdays, he works full time doing tank installs all over new England. You can stop in anytime on Sat tho, open doors all day. Love the place, knowledge, prices etc. Maybe future frag swap location. He's totally willing

*donations encouraged for the coffee, not for the lounge or frag swap- My edit didnt edit so well lol Matt, as of before he wasnt "open" for business but I called him because someone else on the forum told me about him. I told him that I was from Maine Frag Swap and he was super nice "oh, come on down! I'd love to give you a tour and show you what we're doing here." and then talked to me for several hours (not so easy last weekend though on his open house...the place was mobbed!) Either way, you tell him who you are and how you found him and he's super accepting and welcoming. I personally LOVE him...He's kinda my favorite retail store...ever!

I stopped in once he was super friendly and gave me a tour of everything. I haven't been since retail started and I'm excited to check it out in the near future.

I don't see the word "today"in the link anymore but it's still not working? I found it my self but figured I'd put that it's not working so others could use it.

I stopped in there today. What a great guy! Type of guy that would give you the shirt of his back to help you out. My wife and I went, right when we got there he gave us the grand tour and talked about all the different eco systems he has. I loved the huge bat fish he has. You could tell that this is more then a hobby to him its his passion. I recommend anyone to go. I like how its not a retail store but is in a small way. They rather educate you then sell you something. although I did buy two acros and a huge colony of frog spawn for 10 $ each I learned alot. There was some other guys Iin there and we ended up all talking for a good hour. Im excited to go back next Saturday.

I have Rick's number on speed dial. I always call him first whenever I need anything for my tank. And not to be repetitive because it has already been said but, HE QUARANTINES ALL FISH FOR 3 WEEKS BEFORE HE WILL SELL THEM TO YOU. That's what I call "reef safe".
